I created the slideshow for the football awards banquet again this year. It seems to bring a lot of smiles to the players, which makes me happy to do it. I'm a bit sad my son's high school football days are over. It was a joy to watch him play.

An unusual snowfall in Ashland allowed an opportunity to shoot some local scenes covered in white. My son joined me on a quick field trip to Lithia Park and we just enjoyed walking around the frozen duck ponds and the rare quiet that accompanied it. Some photos of the day here.
At the end of November, my wife and I got away for one night at a Whaleshead Beach Resort cabin near Brookings. It may be cliche, but the sunsets and walks on the beach were well worth the time with my "BFF". I was surprised how a 300mm lens changed the colors of the sunset. It must have to due with the compression of the image, or maybe just because it gets you that much closer. (I know you have to be careful pointing that monster lens at the sun, but it had some interesting results once the sun went down.)
One of my favorite images from the trip was an iPhone shot of a spider's web. Not because of its worthiness as a photo, but due to it causing me to think deeper about life, and the journey we are on. Sometimes it the little things... and a photograph can cause you to ponder a moment longer than normal. Some of the images from the trip.
My nephew, Daniel, asked me to take his senior photos today. Rain was threatening, but we made it though just in time. Lighting was somewhat flat so I used my Pocket Wizard to control a remote flash on a portable umbrella. When you don't have sun, you bring your own little portable version...
